Tuesday’s Topic: Just in Time for the New Year — The Ex-Blocker App

We all have at least one ex that we wish would just disappear off the face of the Earth. Unfortunately, magical disappearances rarely tend to happen in real life. In fact, after a bad break-up we are usually stuck with constant reminders of the abhorrent ex everywhere we look. This is especially the case when the same group of friends (or worse – a workplace) is shared.

With the recent popularization of sites like Facebook, it can be especially difficult to free yourself of reminders of the ex. Checking your Facebook or Twitter account can be a heartbreaking experience when you’re constantly hounded by the status updates of your ex. Photo updates can be particularly brutal. When wallowing in post-relationship misery, the last thing you want to see is your ex doing well (or at least better than you).

Wouldn’t it be nice if you could make it easier to move on? Wouldn’t it be great if you could simply erase all those pesky reminders of your former relationship? Now you can (at least on the Internet).

Start the New Year by wiping your dating slate clean with the Ex-blocker! The Ex-blocker is a free web application that allows you to browse the Internet without fear of stumbling upon any unwanted information about your ex (or exes).

Compatible with multiple Internet browsers (including Safari, Chrome and Firefox), the Ex-blocker plug-in hides your ex on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking websites. The Ex-blocker ends the agony of changed relationship statuses (he’s “in a relationship” already?!) and photos of your ex enjoying life after you. What’s not to love about that?

By entering a few simple pieces of information about your ex into the application, you can successfully remove data about them from your Facebook page, your friend’s pages and your Twitter feed. The Ex-blocker will even filter your ex out of Google searches, making it safe to surf the web without any little tidbits of unwanted information randomly popping up.

If you’ve got more than one detestable ex in your past, don’t worry – the Ex-blocker has got you covered. Developed by data visualization agency JESS3, the Ex-blocker allows you to filter out information of up to five former lovers. So far, over 10,500 exes have been blocked by users of the program. As soon as I’m finished with this article, I have #10,501 to add to the list.

In case you’re wondering, the Ex-blocker is completely anonymous. Your ex won’t know that he or she is being blocked by your computer, so you don’t have to worry about any drama on that end. If your ex decides to win you back, app is easy to uninstall (and then reinstall, if necessary).

About Jennifer Kelton

Jennifer KeltonI did not wake up one morning and say “hey I think I’d like a man use my sweater like a towel, write a candid dating book, become a dating expert, the CEO and founder of a social dating site and have three blogs.”

All of this has happened in a slow burn and here I am. The good, the bad, the mistakes, way too many tears shed to count, lots of wine and oh my goodness a huge learning curve that leaves me much of the time saying, “I’m sorry but this is all new to me.”
